Effingham Obstetrics & Gynecology Associates, S.C. Ultrasound The Ultrasound Practice Accreditation Commission of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) has announced that Effingham Obstetrics & Gynecology Associates, S.C., has received accreditation in obstetrical and gynecological ultrasound. Effingham Obstetrics and Gynecology Associates, S.C., successfully completed the application process for obstetrics and gynecology ultrasound practice accreditation and was awarded accreditation in this area for a period of three years. Dr. Kintner, Dr. Whightsel and Dr. Haller are all board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology, so it seemed only natural for the ultrasound lab to meet this higher medical standard. The accreditation process itself is time consuming yet rewarding. Maintenance of continuing education is required and imperative to keep up with the current and future applications in obstetrics and gynecology. Participation in the AIUM's Ultrasound Practice Accreditation program is voluntary and is available to practices in the areas of ultrasound, abdominal/general, obstetrical or focused obstetrical, gynecological, vascular, breast or any combination of these areas. The programs were developed in response to the many changes in the approach to health care delivery that have resulted in an increased scrutiny of diagnostic evaluations, as well as technical improvements that have allowed for the expanded use of ultrasound and have dramatically increased the number of physicians and sonographers using this imaging modality. © 2001 Effingham Obstetrics & Gynecology Associates, S.C.
